at 1:15 AM, Sunday February 1, 2009 EST comeback: a little over 2 days ago I wrote myself off of even tokening. Told myself im done with Gpokr for the month. Something kept calling me back though; I dunno if it was the need to do something at least part of the time or sheer boredom from everything else.
My first 4 hands on Thursday after writing myself off were 1500 3000 12500 58000. Since then I managed to make 200,000. then won the 50k rally to my shock. Come day 31 of the first month: This was most definatly the most interesting day coming in second was day 1 where I won 100k in the first hour and lost it all in one hand. I managed to win the 50k last day tourney for the second month in a row but only managed 3rd in the 100k (which i won last month) and 8th in the 500k (4th)... the lack of results in these final 2 tournaments put me at 35th place. Final hour: I was getting desperate playing WAY to agressive for my taste would go between 100k from 25th to 300k every other hand. Then came the hand of my month. I had A 10 which I played aggressive (50K) got called by one person. Flop 7 6 8. 50k bet by me called turn 9. Here is where I make my mistake, instead of going all in and taking the 200k pot i bet 50k and get called river card 9. now i decide to go all in and get called. 7's over 9s vs straight i lose. 700k gone im now right on the cusp line of 100th place Over the next hour I manage to play aggressive and lose down to 120th (1mil loss total) lose my all in of 80k on the river, with 10 min left. I get desperate and go to the 250k/500k limit table. I manage to get AK on my second hand with 5 min remaining there were others desperate to place like me.. and i thankfully hit my all in with Ace high (what a rarity) to move me back to 36th ironic where i was after I entered the 500k. The comeback was a combination of luck and skill much like the game of poker, you really never know what is going to happen no matter how well you try to read players call bluffs, and play the best hand. Specially in Gpokr where the best hand is never the best. My goal of top 25 still stands. I came close and do not regret the way I played the final hours. Yes it required luck to get to where I was before hand, but with that being said, I did learn a lot and would not play it any other way. For February I would be very content with a T25 which was my goal of Jan, but ideally I want a Top 10 I fela the way I played out the end of January was worth of a top 25 even if I do not get that different colored token. I really appreciate you all who take the time to read my stupid little comments on my wall ^^. I may not post much but when I do I feel it is meaningful and hope that in a way is at least in some way inspiring or helpful. GL to all in February I hope its better than your Jan |
